Mrs. Lillian Beatrice McGee, died instantly when struck by lightning at her home here Friday, June 10, 1960.

Mrs. McGee had lived in this community for 29 years and at the time of her death resided at 616 East Main Street. She was 53.

Services were held at 3:30 p.m. Sunday, June 12, 1960 at the Assembly of God Church. The pastor, Rev. Lyail Parsons, officiated, assisted by Rev. Jay L. Stetler.

Interment was in Mt. Zion Cemetery with German Funeral Home in charge. Pallbearers were Joe King, Austin King, Leroy Wheatley, Junior Horton, Joe Morton and Fred Nichols.

She is survived by her husband, Cecil McGee; eight sons, Harold, Jack, Jimmy, and Tommy McGee, all of Steele, Virgil McGee of Blytheville, Claude McGee of Armorel, Billy Joe McGee of Millington, Tennessee and David McGee of Chicago.
Four daughters, Mrs. Margaret Willoughby of Elizabethtown, Kentucky, Sue McGee, Bonnie McGee and June McGee, all of Steele; one brother, Henry Lee; one sister, Mrs. Gracie Walker, both of Dyersburg; and ten grandchildren.

Mrs. McGee and a son were reportedly pushing a car from beneath a tree when lightning struck the tree, ran down it, crossed a connecting clothesline and struck Mrs. McGee.
