William David "Bill" Pruett died Tuesday morning, February 14, 1961. A resident of Steele for many years, Mr. Pruett was well-known in the area.
Born in Dyer County, Tennessee, on August 4, 1909, he was 51 years of age.
Funeral services were said from the John W. German Mt. Zion Chapel in Steele February 16,1961 at 2:00 p.m. Officiating was Rev. Jasper Patterson of Holland. Burial was in Mt. Zion Cemetery. John W. German Mt. Zion Chapel in charge.
Pallbearers were J.C. Williams, Bobby Powell, Billy Gorman, Herman Lucy, Homer Templeton and Kenneth Holmes.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Ada Pruett, a son, John Thomas Pruett, two daughters, Mrs. Donald V. "Jeannie" Gray and Mrs. James "Bertha" DeVaughn, all of Steele; two sisters, Mrs. Mary Sutton of Steele, and Mrs. Reene Burns of Memphis; and three grandchildren.

Funeral service was held February 15, 1963 for Mrs. Ada Pruett who died suddenly at her home here on February 13, 1963. She was born in Dyer County, Tenn., on August 4, 1911.
The service was from the First Baptist Church with Rev. J.F. McCrary officiating, assisted by Rev. J.N. Patterson of Holland.
John W. German Mt. Zion Chapel of Steele was in charge of arrangements. Burial was at Mt. Zion Cemetery.
Pall bearers were F.M. Miller, Joe Stegall, Pete Bryant, Charles Kelley, J.C. Kinningham, and Bill Whitaker.
Mrs. Pruett leaves two daughters, Mrs. Donald Gray and Mrs. James DeVaughn, both of Steele; a son, John Thomas Pruett, of Clarksdale, Ark.; a sister, Mrs. Lola Winchester of Dyersburg, and four brothers, Murph Reddeck, Isaac Reddeck and Woodrow Reddeck of Dyersburg, and Thomas Reddeck of Henderson, Tenn; and six grandchildren.
