Funeral services were held Saturday for Mrs. Mary Bethelene Taylor, 44, at the German-Aumon Funeral Home Chapel in Steele with the Rev. Ronnie Poole of Steele officiating.
Mrs. Taylor was born June 28, 1928 in Tennessee.
She leaves her husband, O.G. Taylor of Steele; four daughters: Linda K. Ballard of Pascagoula, Miss.; Shirley Gray, Debra Lamb and Edna Lamb, all of Steele; three sons: James Dale Gray, Don Lamb, and Terry Lamb, all of Steele; one step-daughter, Debra Faye Taylor of Steele and her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Hays of Steele. She also leaves one brother, James Hays and five sisters: Pauline Derryberry, Jewell Dean Fisher, Nora Woods, Lillie Pierce and Dora Woods.
Mrs. Taylor was killed about 8:30 last Thursday morning when her car was struck by a Frisco train on a gravel road crossing at Micola, about three miles north of Steele. The Missouri Highway Patrol reported that Ms. Taylor was killed instantly in the crash and that her car was carried some 122 feet down the track after the collision. According to the patrol, Mrs. Taylor drove her 1970 Chevrolet onto the tracks in the path of the Frisco train.
