Following an extended illness, Thomas W. Laden of Steele died January 2 at the Veterans Hospital in Memphis at the age of 59. He was born October 15, 1911, in Steele.
Mr. Laden operated a taxi in Steele and was also a truck driver. He was a veteran of World War II.
He was united in marriage to Ethel Hearn at Caruthersville in December, 1933. They were the parents of one son.
Funeral services were held Monday, January 4, at 2:00 p.m. at the John W. German Funeral Home in Steele with the Rev. James F. McCrary officiating.
Mr. Laden leaves his wife, Mrs. Ethel Laden of Steele; one son, Phillip (Sonny) Laden of Steele; two sisters; Mrs. Shirley Farmer of O'Fallon, Mo., and Mrs. Virgil Hahs of Steele; and two grandchildren, Kathy and Phillip Laden, Jr.
Interment was in Mt. Zion Cemetery at Steele with the John W. German Funeral Home of Steele in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Ethel Mae Laden, 84, died Wednesday, April 5, 1995, at Pemiscot Memorial Health System in Hayti, Mo.
Born August 17, 1910 at Blytheville, Ark., Mrs. Laden was a daughter of the late Harry Hearn and Ella Mae Lawrence Hearn.
A member of the First Baptist Church in Steele, Mo., she was a retired beautician from Jeanie's Beauty Boutique.
Mrs. Laden leaves one son and a daughter-in-law, Phillip (Sonny) and Katherine Laden, of Steele; One sister, Mattie Pearl Krutz of Illinois; Two grandchildren: Kathy Graham and Phillip Laden Jr., both of Steele; and Four great-grandchildren: Allison Graham, Erin Graham, Taylor Laden, and John-Thomas Laden.
Graveside funeral services for Mrs. Laden were held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, April 7, 1995, at Mt. Zion Cemetery in Steele with Brother Michael Funderburk officiating. John W. German Funeral Home of Steele was in charge.
