Lonnie Isaac (Buster) Mathenia, Steele, Route 2, died at his home July 12, 1961. Mr. Mathenia had farmed in this community for forty-three years.

Born in Hardin County, Tenn., he is the son of George L. and Jane White Mathenia.

Mr. Mathenia was 63 years old.

Funeral services were held on July 13, 1961 at the Vicksburg Church, Rev. Gerald Moss officiating. Burial was at Mt. Zion cCmetery, German Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Survivors include his wife, Annie Mathenia, of the home; two sons,James A. Mathenia of Memphis, and Calvin A.D. Mathenia of Illinois; a daughter, Mrs. Katie Tittle of Memphis; sixteen grandchildren; four brothers, Dock of Granite City; Jim of Marston; Tom of Steele; and Newt of Stanton, Ill., three sisters, Mrs. Nana Callens, Granite City, Mrs. Dollie Ledford, Florida and Mrs. Eva Russell of Granite City, Ill.

Mrs. Annie Hurley Mathenia, 68, died November 3, 1969, at the Baptist Hospital in Memphis. She was born January 27, 1901, in Hardin County, Tenn., the daughter of the late Richard C. and Minnie Mae Hurley. Her husband, Lonnie I. Mathenia, preceded her in death in 1961.
Mrs. Mathenia leaves a daughter, Mrs. Kattie Tittle of Hernando, Miss., two sons, James A. Mathenia of Memphis and Calvin Mathenia of Staunton, Ill.
She leaves six sisters: Mrs. Lila Mae Cole and Mrs. Verna Fullerton, both of Steele, Mrs. Katie Prince of Bernie, Mo., Mrs. Emma Driskill of Bloomfield, Mo., Mrs. Ina Lemley of Cape Girardeau, Mo., and Mrs. Lucille Martin of St. Louis; two brothers: Charlie Hurley of Portageville, Mo., and John Hurley of Steele. She also leaves 17 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at German Funeral Home Chapel, 122 E. Main St., Steele, at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, November 4, Rev. Hershel Davis conducting the service.
Burial was in Mt. Zion Cemetery, German Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
