OBITUARY:
"Shirley Ann (Parrish) Rickard, 74, of Kirksville, Missouri died Monday, March 14, 2011 at Kirksville Manor Care Center in Kirksville.

The daughter of Joseph Clark and Ada Myrtle (Kieso) Parrish, she was born November 7, 1936 in Knox County, Missouri. On June 13, 1959 in Fredericktown, Missouri, she was united in marriage to Derrell Eugene Rickard who preceded her in death on October 14, 2009, after fifty years of marriage.

She was also preceded in death by her parents, one sister and three brothers.

Shirley is survived by one son Ronald Parrish and special friend, Karen Mountain both of Kirksville, MO; two daughters and sons-in-law, Rose and Don Harker of Kirksville, MO and Karen and Rick Novinger of Novinger, MO; four sisters, Mary Alice Funk of Kirksville, MO, Dorothy Jean Parrish and special friend, Marty Davis of Edina, MO; Carolyn Parrish of Edina, Mo and Marilyn Fisher and husband, John of Kirksville, MO: six grandchildren, Deanna DeVolld and husband, Claude, of Kirksville, MO, Melissa Miller and husband, Jason, of Kirksville, MO, Ashley Harker of Kirksville, MO, Amy Conover and husband, Mike, of Kirksville, MO, Brittany Rouse and fiancé', Robby Rigney, of Camdenton, MO, and Troy Novinger of Denver, CO; nine great-grandchildren; as well as several nieces and nephews.

Shirley received her education in the Knox County public schools. She was a homemaker the majority of her life with the exception of two years she worked at Florsheim Shoe Factory in Kirksville.

She lived most of her life in Brashear. In 2003, she and her husband moved to Kirksville, to make their home, where she resided eight years until going to Kirksville Manor Care Center in March due to ill health.

Shirley's hobbies included sewing, going to yard sales, doing all kinds of crafts and decorating her yard with ornaments and flower arrangements. Her greatest joy was her two parakeets, Sissy and Zeck. She also enjoyed visiting with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Funeral services under the direction of Travis-Noe Funeral Home in Kirksville, MO were Wednesday, March 16, 2011. Chaplain Carol Davenport officiated the services. Pallbearers were Don Harker, Jason Miller, Robby Rigney, Rick Novinger, Ronald Parrish and Claude DeVolld. Honorary Bearers were Troy Novinger and Mike Conover. Burial was in the Parkview Memorial Gardens in Kirksville, MO.

Memorials may be made to American Cancer Society or to Hospice of Northeast Missouri."
