Bessie Pearl (Richardson) Smith, 87, of Cabool, Missouri, and formerly of Willow Springs, Missouri, died Saturday, March 28, 2009, at St. John's Hospital, Springfield, Missouri.
Bessie was born November 17, 1921 in Summersville, Missouri, to William Edward and Emma Almeda (Powell) Richardson.
On November 9, 1945, Bessie was united in marriage to William Jones Smith in Kansas City, Kansas. They celebrated 60 years of marriage in 2005.
She enjoyed being a member of the Moose, Elks and the American Legion and was a member of Willow Springs Presbyterian Church.
Bessie was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; her brothers James and William Charles "Charley" Richardson; and her sisters, Anna Lea Farrow, Gertrude Richardson, Grace Hamilton, Rebecca Mabel Wuertley, and Florence Martin.
She is survived by her daughters, Sharon Dunivin and husband Patrick of Willow Springs and Kathryn Lawrence and husband Harvey of Princeton, Kentucky; four grandchildren and their spouses; 13 great-grandchildren; her sisters, Juanita Wuertley of Riverton, Wyoming, and Emma Jean Aills and husband John of Florida; her sister-in-law, Elsa Richardson of Summersville; many nieces and nephews; and many friends.
Funeral arrangements were under the direction of Willow Funeral Home. Services were conducted by Rev. Diane Cooke at Willow Springs Presbyterian Church on Tuesday, March 31, 2009, at 10:30 a.m. with burial at Willow Springs Cemetery.
