Gervis Ashley (G.A.) Capps, 91, passed away Thursday, Sept. 1, 2016, in Memphis, Tenn. He was born April 25, 1925, in Holland to the late Clay Capps and Reba Allison Capps. He was united in marriage to Adell Frakes in Blytheville, Ark., on Nov. 2, 1941. He was a former businessman, having owned and operated Capps Auto Store in Steele until his retirement. He also had a passion for farming. He was a graduate of Steele High School and a member or the Steele Church of Christ. He served his country in the United States Army during World War II.
Mr. Capps was preceded in death by his parents, Clay Capps and Reba Allison Capps; wife, Adell Frakes Capps and one infant son, Gervi Dewayne Capps;
Survivors of Mr. Capps include one daughter, Marla Delle Roberts and her husband, Ron, of Kennett, and one grandson, Brandt Ashley Roberts of Lanesboro, Mich.
Funeral services for Mr. Capps will be at 6 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 27 at Mr. Capps' residence located at 307 Sheeley Street in Steele with Mr. James Powell and Mr. John Mundy officiating. Private graveside services were held in September with interment being at MT. Zion Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 6:30-8 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 27 at his residence.
Powell Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
