Funeral services were held Saturday, April 7, 1962 at the Steele Methodist Church for one of the County's best-loved citizens, Samuel Laden Robinson.

Mr. Robinson died April 5 at Chickasawba Hospital in Blytheville, Arkansas.

Born in Hardin County, Tenn., November 30, 1884 Mr. Robinson was the son of W.D. and Allie Laden Robinson, He was 77.

Judge Robinson, as he was affectionately called, was a humanitarian in every sense of the word, having dedicated his life to the service of others. He became a member of The Methodist Church at the age of 10, and has remained an active member for 67 years, serving when and where-ever he was called. His contributions to civic affairs were many in such fields as Boy Scouting, teaching, serving as Mayor of the city, and county judge. He also dealt in such humanities as Vital Statistician, welfare work, private counselor, and administrator of several estates.

Perhaps his most extensive contribution to the local community has been his cherished services rendered to the upbuilding of Mount Zion Cemetery. His later life was dedicated to this work.

Early in life he began his career of service to others by preparing himself in the Tennessee Normal schools to teach the young to be good and useful citizens.

He was married in 1912 to Ella Prince and shortly afterward they moved to Missouri to make their home and to teach school. they settled first in Braggadocio, later in Cooter, and finally in Steele, which has been his home since 1917.

To this union were born four children: two died in infancy; a son Fred D., died at the age of four; and a daughter, Mrs. Nell Northern of Belleville, Ill., survives. They also reared a young man, Bennie Pyle, who is overseas in the armed services. This wife of his first marriage died in 1931.

Mr. Robinson was later married to Hattie Bowman of Oak Ridge, who survives. Of this union there survive six grandchildren: Mrs. Martha Smith of Norfolk, Va., Miss Janet Harris of the home; Miss Susan Northern of Belleville, Ill., Guyendale Potts of Steele; Misses Judy and Linda Potts of Holland, and six great grandchildren. Two step-daughters, Mrs. Ruby Potts and Mrs. Lulu Harris, and one grandson, John Dee Northern, preceded Mr. Robinson in death.

He also leaves a brother, William R. Robinson of Blytheville, and a host of other relatives and friends.

Rev. Charles Miller, pastor of the Methodist Church conducted the services, assisted by Rev. James F. McCrary, pastor of the First Baptist Church.

Burial was in Mt. Zion Cemetery with German Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Pallbearers were members of the Board of Directors of Mount Zion Cemetery. Honorary pall bearers were: Bert Poteet, Herbert Ketchum, P.E. Pender, J.P. Averett, Frankie Weaver, Noble Capehart, Jim Ahern, Bob Lee Smith, Lester Graham, Johnnie Capps, Clarence Poteet and Homer Alexander.
