Berta Lee Jones, 81, Nixa, Missouri, passed away on Tuesday, September 29, 2009, after a short illness. She was born on December 29, 1927.

She graduated from Chaffee High School in 1945, and married William Louis Jones on March 1, 1947.

He preceded her in death on March 13, 2000. She was also preceded in death by her parents, Levi Howard and Leora Beavers; sisters, Glennie and Clemmie; and brothers, Marvin and Noah.

Survivors include son, William; daughters, Terri and husband, Paul, and Jan; grandchildren , Sherri and husband, John, John and wife, Stephanie, David and wife, Sheri, Holly and husband, Joe, Brandon and Hailey; great-grandchildren, Austin, Jaden, Cameron, Eli, Grant, Evan, Levi and Connor; sister Lavern; many nieces and nephews; and a host of friends. She was a longtime member of the church of Christ and most recently was a member at Union Hill Church of Christ in Nixa. She spent most of her life as a homemaker, and spent many hours caring for, and enjoying, her grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, October 2, in Greenlawn Funeral Home South, with Steve Martin officiating. Burial will follow in McConnell/Bledsoe Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, in the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimers Association or to Fair Haven Children's Home.
