Funeral services for Oscar Whittington Jr. were held September 25, 1985, at 2 p.m. at German-Aumon Funeral Home Chapel in Steele. Rev. Roy Hamlett and Rev. Ken Yates officiated.
Mr. Whittington was the son of Etta James Whittington and the late Oscar Whittington Sr. He was born August 22, 1930, in Denton and died September 22, 1985, at Blytheville at the age of 55.
Mr. Whittington was a serviceman for Associated Gas.
He was a member of the Assembly of God Church at Denton. On May 19, 1949, he was married to Alice Marie Guest who survives.
He leaves his wife, Alice Marie Whittington of Steele; Two sons, David Lynn Whittington of Rapid City, S.D., and Jerry Allen Whittington of Charleston, Mo.; One daughter, Brenda Kay Scott of Chaffee, Mo.; His mother, Etta James Whittington of Steele; and Seven grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Randy Guest, Lee Guest, Nathan Guest, Jadie Barnard, Jerry Eckhart and Jimmy Eckhart.
Burial was at Mt. Zion Cemetery in Steele with arrangements by German-Aumon Funeral Home.

ALICE MARIE WHITTINGTON, Age 83, a resident of Charleston and formerly of Steele, MO, went to meet her Savior, Jesus Christ, Friday, October 30, 2015, at 4:45 p.m.

Alice was the first of five children born to Alphus Boone and Viola Marie Faris Guest, on May 14, 1932, in Ridgely, TN. She married Oscar Whittington, Jr. in May of 1949, and to this union was born two sons, David (Joyce) Whittington of Rapid City, SD, and Jerry (Terry) Whittington of Charleston, MO, and a daughter, Brenda (Mike) Scott of Paris, TN. She is also survived by three brothers, James (Beverly) Guest, Robert (Pat) Guest, and Charles (Paula) Guest, 9 grandchildren and a host of great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and dear friends whom she loved very much.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Oscar Whittington Jr., her daughter-in-law, Pam Nichols Whittington, and her sister, Doris Eckhart.

Alice devoted her life to family and the service of her Savior, Jesus Christ. She is remembered as a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt and friend. Alice was a Sunday school teacher of hundreds and youth leader of scores. Alice was a master oil and watercolor painter with her art cherished by many across the United States. She was known for her big home-made family dinners with a variety of dishes, cakes, pies and custard and her countless hours of volunteer work at Missouri Delta Medical Center as well as her devotion to her church, First Assembly of God in Charleston, MO where she was a member.
