Mr. Wilburn Thomas (Bob) Simmons, 69, of Hayti, died January 22, 2010.
He was born Dec. 21, 1940 near Steele to the late Wilburn Bartlett and Lola Mae McNabb Simmons.
Aug. 17, 1963, in Caruthersville, he was united in marriage to Cheryl Gillett.
He was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He was of the Baptist Faith. He was a school administrator for the Hayti School District. He liked to go out to eat, visit with friends at the coffee shop and give them all heck. He was a proud U.S. Marine Corp Veteran. He last worked at the Pemiscot County Justice Center in Caruthrsville.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Wilburn Bartlett and Lola Mae McNabb Simmons; and a brother, Charles Dean Simmons.
He leaves his wife, Mrs. Cheryl Simmons of Hayti; a son and daughter-in-law, Robert W. and Kristina Simmons of St. Charles, MO; a granddaughter, Evelyn; brother, Ralph Simmons of St. Louis, MO; sister Sandra K. Harrah of Steele; and a host of other relatives and many friends.
Pallbearers were Mike Thomas, Mike Curtis, Todd Nettleton, Tim McCrary and Ronnie and Todd Trowbridge.
Funeral Services were held Sunday, January 24, 2010 in the John W. German Funeral Home in Hayti with Dr. Tony Cherry officiating. Burial was held in the Mt. Zion Cemetery in Steele.
