Dora Katherine Hays, 75, of Memphis, Tenn., died Wednesday, May 4, 2011 at the St. Francis Hospital in Memphis.
Born June 27, 1935 in Hermandale, Mo., she is the daughter of the late Arra Lee Allison and Dora Beatrice Taylor Allison. She was also preceded in death by one son, James Larry Hays; three brothers, Lester Lee Allison, Charles Alan Allison and Tony Allison; and four sisters, Tilda McGrath, Mildred Southard, Etta Mae Gray and Mary Lou Marbry.
Dora was united in marriage to James Claudie Hays on Nov. 25, 1950 in Nimmons, Ark. She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
She was a homemaker and of the Baptist faith.
Mrs. Hays leaves her three daughters: Brenda Hays Dees and Jimmy of Olive Branch, Miss., Kathy Hays Ellison of Memphis, and Vicki Hays Galas and Matthew of Millington, Tenn.; Five grandchildren: Lori Nicole Sides and Daniel, Amy Jo Ellison, Jamae Ray Ellison, James Michael Ellison and LeighAnne Stanley and Wade; Two great-grandchildren: Hannah Leanne Sides and Ncholas Heath Sides; Three brothers: Chester Lee Allison of Arlington, Tenn., Jesse James Allison of Steele and Kenneth Allison of Fenton, Mo.' Two sisters: Ruth Allison Carlton and Glenda Allison Winters, both of Steele; and A host of other friends and relatives.
Funeral services for Mrs. Hays were held at 2 p.m., Saturday, May 7, at the Powell Funeral Home Chapel in Steele with Rev. Gary Andrews officiating.
Burial was at the Mt. Zion Cemetery in Steele.
