Virginia Betty Louise Johnson, 76, of Portageville, Mo., died Friday, November 4, 2011 in Portageville.
Born August 2, 1935 in Haleyville, Ala., she is the daughter of the late James Hood and Pearl Brannan Hood.
She was also preceded in death by one son, Danny Wayne Johnson; one daughter, Melba Jean Johnson; one grandson, Joseph Lewis Hill; five brothers: L. V., Travis, James, Hubert, and Jimmy Hood and one sister, Purnie Carter.
Louise had worked at South Pemiscot School as a cook and was of the Baptist faith.
Mrs. Johnson leaves her companion, Raymond Davis, of Portageville; one son, Tony Hood of Hayti; four daughters: Judy Welch of Blytheville, Ark., Wanda Kinkaid of Hardy, Ark., Becca Hughes of Hayti and Tammy Carter Buchanan of Steele; two step-daughters: Angie Davis of Illinois and Kim Jackson of Portageville; two brothers: Bertis Hood of Cordova, Ala., and Mack Hood of Double Springs, Ala.; one sister, Brenda Hunt of Steele; and 16 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services for Mrs. Johnson were held at 2 p.m. Thursday, November 8 at the Powell Funeral Home Chapel in Steele with Rev. Michael Funderburk officiating.
Burial was at the Mount Zion Cemetery in Steele.
Pallbearers were Rodney Nevell, Matt Hood, Lewis Hunt, Jeremy Hood, Jeremy Sykes and John Kinkaid.
