Mrs. Vestie Travis, 79, of Steele died Oct. 13, 1989 at St. Francis Hospital in Memphis. Born Nov. 30, 1909 in Cerrogordo, Tenn., she was the daughter of Elijah and Ester Cupples Stanfield. She was a housewife and a member of the Pentecostal Church of God. She was the widow of Henry Travis.
She is survived by two brothers, Jim W. Stanfield of Oran and Burnis Stanfield of Steele; And one sister, Mrs. Lestie Taylor of Steele; She was also preceded in death by four sisters and one brother.
Services were Oct. 15 at 2 p.m. at Steele Pentecostal Church of God, the Rev. Gary Andrews and the Rev. Annie Handley officiating, with burial in Mt. Zion Cemetery, Bradshaw's German-Aumon Funeral Home of Steele in charge.
Pallbearers were Gene Handley, Buzz Tuberville, Troy Tuberville, the Rev. James Baker, Lamar Durham, Henry Boren, Ron Reagan and Paul Blocker.

Funeral services were held Monday for Henry Travis, who died, July 22 at Hayti Memorial Hospital. Born in Independence, Arkansas, he was 65 years, five days of age. He had been a resident ot this vicinity for several years.
Services were held at the Pentecostal Church of God at 3:00 p.m. July 25. Conducting services were Rev. Eugene Burns and Rev. Roy Handley. Interment was in Mt. Zion Cemetery with German Funeral Home of Steele in charge of arrangements.
Surviving Mr. Travis are his wife, Mrs. Vestle Travis of Cooter; two sons, Raymond Travis of Texas and A.G. Travis of Fort Smith; one sister, Mrs. Nancy Hillman of Tulsa, Oklahome; and a half brother, W.S. Pullman of Oklahoma.
