Steele, Mo.--Funeral services were held Wednesday at the Methodist Church in Steele for S.B. Blalack, who died Tuesday morning at his home in the Gibson community several months after he was stricken ill with paralysis. The Rev. J.W. Cunningham, pastor of the Steele Baptist church, had charge of the services and was assisted by the pastor, Rev. H.S. Holley. Interment was in Mt. Zion cemetery.
Mr. Blalack had lived in the Steele community for a number of years and was an active member of the Baptist church.
Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Lela Blalack; three daughters, Mrs. Ted Reeves, Mrs. Richard Wallace and Mrs. Lester Cecil all of Steele; one step-daughter, Mrs. Richard McDermont of Blytheville; several grand-children and two sisters and two brothers.

Funeral services were held for Mrs. Lela Blalack Sunday, August 9, 1953, at 2 p.m. at the Baptist Church in Steele, with Rev. W.H. Cook officiating. Burial was at Mt. Zion Cemetery and German Funeral Home had charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Blalack was born September 9, 1879, at Eupora, Miss., and departed this life Thursday, August 6, 1953 at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Lester Cecil, at the age of 73 years, 10 months and 27 days.

She was converted at the age of 16 and became a member of the Shiloh Baptist Church at Duck Hill, Miss. She was a devoted Christian and mother throughout her life.

She was united in marriage in the year 1900 to Tommy Carson. To this union was born two children. One child and her husband preceded her in death. Mrs. Richard McDermott of Portageville, Mo., is the only survivor of this union.

She was united in marriage to S.B. Blalack in 1905, and six children were born to them. Mr. Blalack succumbed in 1941, and two infants, also a son, Jimmy Blalack passed away in 1928. Three daughters: Mrs. Richard Wallace of St. Louis, Mrs. W.R. Reeves of Lilbourn and Mrs. Lester Cecil of here.

Also left to mourning her passing are 14 grandchildren and seven great grandchildren, as well as a host of friends.

Pallbearers were Leslie Barron, Jack Mills, Sam Ellis, J.W. Blackwell, Thelbert Bishop and Frank Huffman.
