E. W. Hobbs was born November 12, 1920 in El Vado, New Mexico, he entered into rest on April 3, 2017 at his home in Neosho, following two years of failing health. E. W. served his country in the U. S. Army, September 16, 1940 and was honorably discharged on June 20, 1945. He worked as a pipeline welder and was a member of the Local 798 in Tulsa, Oklahoma for over 66 years. He and his family moved to the Neosho area in 1971 from New Jersey. E. W. was an avid golfer and he loved his farm. He was a lifelong member of the Splitlog Baptist Church. E. W. and Minerva (Joseph) were married on Nov. 13, 1955 in Philadelphia, PA and she preceded him in death on April 24, 2000. He is survived by three children, Tammy Sarratt and husband, John of Goodman; Mike Hobbs and wife, Trisha of Neosho and Jean Hobbs of Neosho; one sister, Evah Knisley of Green Castle, IN; seven grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. In addition to his wife, he is preceded in death by his parents and three siblings, Janice Crosby, Graden Hobbs and Glen Hobbs. Funeral services will be held on Friday, April 7, 2017 at 1 pm at the Splitlog Baptist Church, Pastor Shan Cobb will officiate. Interment and military honors will follow in the Banner Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Steve Hobbs, John Sarratt, Mike Hobbs, Justin Ferguson, Richard Adams and Logan Hobbs. Honorary pallbearer will be Harold Stites. Friends may call at the Clark Funeral Home on Thursday from 9 am until 5 pm. In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of E.W. may be made to Splitlog Baptist Church, c/o Clark Funeral Home, PO Box 66, Neosho, MO 64850.
