Funeral services were held Monday, August 29, 1977 for Hubert Fortner of Kennett. Rev. J. C. Joiner officiated at the Chapel of German-Aumon Funeral Home. Burial was in Mt. Zion Cemetery.

Mr. Fortner was born in Lawrence County, Tenn. on March 19, 1920. He died August 26, 1977 at Dunklin County Memorial Hospital in Kennett.

A retired farmer, Mr. Fortner was a veteran of World War II.

He leaves three daughters; Barbara Ann Patrick, Delores Fisher, and Mary Fortner of Kennett; five sons: Dennis Fortner and Billy Wayne Fortner of Louisville, Ky.; George Fortner and Terry Fortner of Kennett; and James Allen Fortner of Hammond, Ill.; two sisters; Kathleen Griggs of Steele and Mrs. Willie Dean Rogers of New Orleans; a brother, Jack Fortner of Steele.

Pallbearers were members of the Calvary Baptist Church of Kennett.
