Joy Parvin, 72, died at Pemiscot Nursing Home in Hayti on December 11, 1999. She was born in Bolivar, Tenn., on November 30, 1927, the daughter of the late Thomas Daniel Hancock and Lillie Mitchell Hancock.
Parvin was preceded in death by three sisters.
Survivors include two nephews who she raised and regarded as her sons, Claude Daniel Morris of Cooter and Charles Lee Morris of Caruthersville; a very special niece, Gail Hall of Hayti; one brother, William Hancock of Portage, Ind.; two sisters, Ruth Wade of Caruthersville and Delores Eaton of Portage, Ind.; two stepsons, James Edward Parvin of Rienzi, Miss., and Jerry Lane Parvin of Leeds, Ala.; one step-daughter, Barbara Ellen Parvin of Corinth, Miss., a number of other relatives, and many friends.
Services were held on Monday, December 13, 1999, 11 a.m. in H.S. Smith Funeral Home Chapel in Caruthersville, with Rev. Michael Maynard officiating. Interment was in Mt. Zion Cemetery in Steele.
