Mrs. Mary Louise Wheeler, 48, died March 29, 1983, at The Caruthersville Manor in Caruthersville. Funeral services were held Thursday, March 31, at 2:00 in the John W. German Funeral Home Chapel in Steele. Rev. David Hart officiated.
The daughter of Mary Gray and the late Hays Brown, she was born October 24, 1934, at Selmer, Tennessee. She was united in marriage to Jack Wheeler in Portageville.
She leaves her husband, Jack Wheeler, of Steele; Two sons, James Shelton, of Caruthersville and William Wheeler of St. Louis; Three daughters, Mary Elva Wheeler of Steele, Mrs. Barbara Jean Burns of Savannah, Tennessee, and Mrs. Letha Thompson of Steele; Her mother, Mrs. Mary Brown of Caruthersville; Five brothers, A.J. Brown of Caruthersville Richard Brown, of Steele, Jackie Brown of Cunningham, Texas, Thurman Brown of Caruthersville and Ray Brown of Steele; Two sisters, Mrs. Virginia Holt of Steele and Mrs. Addie Lou McLehaney of Caruthersville; and Eleven grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Merlon Barnard, Jim Whitehead, Joe Ricketts, Larry Smith, Truman Larue and Willie Whitehead.
Burial was in the Mt. Zion Cemetery near Steele with the John W. German Funeral Home of Steele in charge.
