Anna Belle Hodge, 98, of Steele, died Thursday, November 25, 2010, at the Twin Rivers Medidal Center in Kennett.

Born December 26, 1911 in Marion, Ill., she is the daughter of the late James Oscar Hastings and Clora Turnage Hastings.

She was also preceded in death by seven brothers, Irby Hastings, Earl Hastings, Claude Hastings, Alfred Hastings, Riley Hastings, Milan Hastings, and Leroy Hastings; four sisters: Bertha Weaver, Pauline Gurley, Patricia Mayo and Etta Hastings.

Anna Belle was unted in marriage to Francis Asbury Hodge Sr. on December 13, 1927. He also preceded her in death.

She was a member of the Steele Church of Christ for over 65 years, a homemaker and an accomplished seamstress.

Mrs. Hodge leaves one son, Francis Hodge, Jr., of Steele; one daughter, Judy Goodson, of Memphis, Tenn.; four grandchildren: Kerry Hodge and wife Cindy of Olive Branch, Miss., Scott Hodge and wife Tena of Round Rock, Texas, Leslie Dvorin and husband Jason of Southlake, Texas and Beth Whipple and husband David of Cordova, Tenn.; five great-grandchildren: Conner Hodge, Stuart Hodge, Whitney Hodge, Dru Dvorin and Giselle Dvorin; and one great-great-granddaughter, Sunny Laine Hodge.

Funeral services for Mrs. Hodge were held at 2:30 p.m. Saturday November 28, 2010 at the Church of Christ in Steele with Mr. John Mundy officiating.

Burial was at the Mount Zion Cemetery in Steele with Powell Funeral Home of Steele in charge of services.

Pallbearers were Gary Gurley, Tom Winter, John Brown, Keith Samford, Rockey Booker, and Merlyn Bishop.

Services for Francis A. Hodge were conducted Tuesday, September 21, 1976 at 3:00 in the Chapel of German-Aumon Funeral Home. Mr. Ed Brand officiated.

Mr. Hodge was born November 3, 1906 in Charleston, Mo., and died September 19, 1976 at the Chickasawba Hospital in Blytheville.

Mr. Hodge was united in marriage December 13, 1927, to Anna Belle Hastings.

He was in the wholesale and retail gasoline and oil business in the Steele area for more than 45 years.

He leaves his widow, Anna Belle Hastings Hodge; a daughter, Mrs. Judy Goodson of Memphis; a son, Francis Hodge, Jr., of El Paso, Texas; four grandchildren: Kerry, Scott, and Leslie Hodge and Beth Douglas.

Also one nephew, Claude L. Schoolfield of Clarkton, Mo.; and five nieces, Mrs. Camille Crockett and Mrs. Blande Macklin of Portageville, Mrs. Alvine Blankenship and Mrs. Marie Morris of New Madrid, and Mrs. Lonnie Hodge of Delta, Mo.

Pallbearers were Hoye Hillhouse, Clarence Poteet, Hobart Poteet, Cecil Barnes, Howard Smith and Mickey Howe.

German-Aumon Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. Burial was in Mount Zion Cemetery.
