Services For Arthur Ausmus This Afternoon
Funeral services for Arthur Delyn Ausmus, 83, of the Sue City community, will be held this afternoon at three o'clock in the Christie Funeral Chapel in LaPlata. Elder Bryan Adair of Atlanta will conduct the services. Burial will be in the Hazel Dell cemetery southeast of LaPlata.
Mr. Ausmus died Friday morning at 10:15 in the Samaritan Hospital in Macon where he had been a patient since Apr. 7. Before entering the hospital he had been a resident of a Macon nursing home since 1964 when he suffered a stroke.
The son of Brice B. and Georganna (Hamlin) Ausmus, he was born in Knox County on Aug. 8, 1886. On Nov. 11, 1906 in Knox county, he married Emma Bowen who preceded him in death on Jan. 6, 1960. Also preceding him in death were two brothers and two sisters.
Surviving are one sister, Mrs. Milo (Mary) Lyon of Atlanta and several nieces and nephews.
Mr. Ausmus was engaged in farming in the Sue City community until 1940 when he moved to Kirksville. While living in Kirksville he was custodian at the First Baptist Church and also at two banks.
He was a member of the Hazel Dell Christian Church.
Bearers will be his nephews Everett Ausmus, Elgin Ausmus, Chester Loft, Everett Loft, Faye Lyon and Victor Lyon.
