Sarah Elizabeth Cowan, 83, of Joplin, died at 3:01 p.m. Wednesday, March 15, 2006, at her home.
Mrs. Cowan was born Feb. 16, 1923, in Galena, Mo., to Daniel F. and Laura Belle (Cox) Hembree. She had been a meat wrapper and the manager of Main Street Apartments. She was a member of the Eagles Club where she is serving as treasurer.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and two sons, Larry Cowan and Owen Cowan.
She is survived by two sons, Billy Cowan and his wife, Judy, of Avondale, Colo., and James Cowan and his wife, Shirley, of Carson City, Wash.; two daughters and their spouses, Elizabeth and Gary Luman, of Bushnell, Fla., and Bernice and Lawrence Greenhood, of Colorado Springs, Colo.; two daughters-in-law, Marta Cowan, of Joplin and Diane Cowan, of Phoenix, Ariz.; 14 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Cowan has been cremated. Memorial services will be 5 p.m. tonight, Monday March 20, at the Eagles Club, 1321 South Main.

Arrangements are under the direction of Thornhill-Dillon Mortuary.
