Services for Mrs. Maggie C. Birkes, 90, Exeter route 1, who died at 11:30 pm Saturday at south Barry County Hospital, Cassville, where she had been admitted a few hours earlier, will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Ridgley Baptist Church, south of Wheaton. Mrs. Birkes was born Dec. 21, 1882, in the State of Virginia. She lived most of her life in Barry County and was a member of Ridgley Baptist Church. She married Charles O. Birkes March 8, 1899 and he died Nov 26, 1949. Survivors include two sons, Chester Birkes, Independence,and Hershel Birkes, Exeter route 1; two additional daughters, Mrs. Mildred Springer, Marionville, and Mrs. Lora Embrey, Appleton City; a sister, Mrs. Hattie Thomas, Exeter; 10 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren.
