Services Sunday for Calvin Carter
Funeral services for Calvin Carter of Wheaton were held at the Rocky Comfort Baptist Church Sunday afternoon, Feb. 24 by Rev. Chas. VanZandt
of Cassville, assisted by Rev. Coy Holmes. Burial was made in the Rocky
Comfort Cemetery under direction of the McQueen Funeral Home.
Mr. Carter died at 5 o'clock Saturday morning, Feb. 23 in the Wheaton Hospital where he had been taken Thursday suffering with pneumonia.
Calvin or "Dimmer." as he was called by his friends was born May 26, 1884, near Stella, Mo. At the time of his death he was 72 years, 8 months and 27 days old.
He lived his entire life in the Stella and Wheaton communities. He and his wife had resided in Wheaton for 20 years where he operated a Phillips 66 service station.
He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Pruda W. Carter; a brother, Holcie Carter of Joplin, two sisters, Mrs. Maude Jessee of Stella and Mrs.
Rhoda Carnes of Webb City; a number of nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends.

Funeral Services for Pruda Carter Held Monday
Funeral services were held Monday afternoon at the Prosperity Baptist Church, Rocky Comfort, for Mrs Pruda W. Carter, 86, who died Saturday morning at Sale Memorial Hospital, Neosho, wheres she had been a patient nine days.
Don Dettenbaugh, Minister, officiated. Burial was in Rock Comfort Cemetery under the direction of McQueen Funeral Home.
Mrs. Carter was born Aug. 15, 1888 in Barry County and had lived in this area her entire life. She was a retired school teacher and had taught at Midway, Fairview, Stellla, Goodman, and Wheaton schools. She was a member of the Christian Church and the Wheaton Order of Eastern Star No. 4. She was also a member of Azotus Shrine, No. 5, WSJ, at Joplin.
Mrs. Carter married Calvin Carter in 1912. He died Feb. 23, 1957.
Survivors include two sisters, Mrs. Elizabeth Howard, Miami, Okla., and Mrs. Monta Duncan, Cassville.
