Lewis George McReynolds, 77, of Willow Springs, Missouri, passed away at 9:30 PM Sunday, September 18, 2017 at Texas County Memorial Hospital in Houston, Missouri. He was born January 12, 1940 in Springfield, Missouri to Lewis and Doris (Whited) McReynolds.
Lewis and Evelyn Coatney were married on January 14, 1961, and to this union one son, Mark, was born.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Evelyn; one son, Mark; daughter-in-law, Tanya; grandchildren, Mindy, Tiffany, Brianna, and Tyler; and great granddaughter, Desirae. He is also survived by three brothers, Jim of Willow Springs, Charlie and wife, Rosalee, of DeKalb, MS and David and wife, Marilyn, of Willow Springs.
His parents and stepdad precede him in death.
Lewis served 20 years in the United States Navy before retiring and becoming an over the road truck driver for the next 34 years.
Lewis had many interests and hobbies in life including deep sea fishing with his friends, drag racing, engine-building, farming, and tinkering on things to make them work better. He also really enjoyed the time he served with the Eleven Point Rural Fire Department and Cabool VFW Post.
He never met a stranger and went out of his way to talk with any military veteran that he came in contact with. He will be greatly missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, September 21, 2017 in Yarber Mortuary chapel, Willow Springs, Missouri. Visitation will be from 6-8:00 p.m. Wednesday evening, also at the funeral home. Interment with military honors will be held in Willow Springs City Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to American Cancer Society.
