Erma Lee (Corman) Young, youngest child of Harry Jacob and Margaret Elizabeth (McBurney) Corman was born August 30, 1926 at the family home near Cole Camp, Missouri.
She departed this life on January 26, 2016 at the age 89 years, 4 months, and 27 days; at the Texas County Memorial Hospital in Houston, Missouri after a short illness.
Erma Lee was raised in the Cole Camp area, attending schools in Benton County, graduating from Lincoln, Missouri High School class of 1945. After graduation, she attended Southwest Baptist College at Bolivar, Missouri and received an A. A. degree in 1947. At Lebanon, Missouri she began a teaching career that lasted 26 years. During teaching years Erma Lee received a B.S. degree in Education from SMSU and continued graduate work until retiring from teaching in 1977. She pursued social service work as director of Cabool Senior Citizen’s Center for a number of years.
Erma Lee retired from the center in 1991 to devote more time at home and enjoy activities of gardening and flowers, sewing, traveling, cooking, and hobbies. She has been active in Cabool Study Club, VFW Ladies Auxiliary, Golden Age Club, Republican Women’s Group, 60 +ers, and volunteering at the Cabool Senior Center where she was a board member. Erma Lee and John T. enjoyed vacation trips to the Southwest U.S., Old Mexico, Outer Banks of North Carolina, New England, Washington D.C., Niagara Falls, Korea, and Alaska.
In June 1954, Erma Lee and John T. Young were married. This union was blessed with two children; Elizabeth Jane and John Timothy.
Erma Lee was preceded in death by her husband, John T., her parents; her brother, Orval Corman; two brothers-in-law, Glen Sherman and Clennon Boyette and a sister-in-law, June Corman.
Erma Lee is survived by her daughter Elizabeth Jones and husband Lloyd of Houston, Missouri; her son Tim Young and Jennifer of Licking, Missouri; grandson Case Thomas-Dale Jones, granddaughter Daniella Izabelle Young; Alysha and Cody; two sisters, Eloise Boyette of Daytona Beach, Florida and Elinor Sherman of Hastings, Nebraska as well as several nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends who will miss her dearly.
Erma Lee became a Christian as a young person. She enjoyed working in different churches where her teaching and work took her. For a number of years she has been a member of Cabool Christian Church. [evansfh.com]

John Thomas Young, youngest child of Fred and Ruth (Robinett) Young was born March 15, 1928 near Giltner, Nebraska.
He departed this life on December 24, 2010 at the age of 82 years, 9 months, and 9 days; at the Texas County Memorial Hospital in Houston, Missouri after a long illness.
John T., at age 4, moved with his parents and sisters to Missouri; first to Hartville, then to the farm at Elk Creek. He attended school at Elk Creek and high school in Cabool. He began college at Missouri University and finished at SMSU in Springfield receiving a B.S. Degree in Agriculture in 1957.
In 1950 John T. was inducted into the Army receiving basic training at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri. He served active duty in the Korea Conflict and Japan. During the time at Fort Leonard Wood, John T. met at Lebanon, the girl whom he married in June 1954.
John T. followed several kinds of employment; working at Cabool Producer’s Creamery, Caterpillar in Peoria, Illinois, trucking farm products and farming. While farming he was able to serve 33 years as mail carrier between Cabool and Houston and 22 years as a school bus driver for Cabool Schools. Later years he devoted full time on the farm to a limited number of cattle and some hay harvesting. He loved the farm and farming.
John T. enjoyed collecting coins, stamps, pens, and pencils, TV-ing and vacation trips to the Southwest U.S., Old Mexico, Outer Banks of North Carolina, New England, Washington D.C., Niagara Falls, Korea, and Alaska. He was a lifetime member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, being active as long as health permitted and was active in 60 Pluses church group and many gatherings for his high school class of 1945.
John T. and Erma Lee were married in 1954 and to this union were blessed with two children, Elizabeth Jane and John Timothy.
At a young age John T. became a Christian. He continued to attend church at Cabool Christian Church where he served as deacon.
John T. was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters Rose and Pauline Young. He is survived by his wife Erma Lee of 56 years; his daughter Elizabeth Jones and husband Lloyd of Houston, Missouri; his son Tim Young and Jennifer of Licking, Missouri; grandson Case Thomas-Dale Jones, granddaughter Daniella Izabelle Young; Alyshia and Cody as well as many cousins and friends who will miss him dearly.
