Mary Catherine "Pat" Holland, a resident of Willow Springs, passed away Sunday, March 4, 2018 while at Willow Care Nursing Home due to natural causes. Born March 17, 1926 to Willard R. and Eddie (Davis) Petrus in Valley Park, MS; she was 91 years old.
Pat grew up and attended schools in Arkansas and Louisiana. She graduated from high school in Tallulah, LA. She was married on March 17, 1946 in Willow Springs to Harry W. Holland, and to this union one child was born. Pat and Harry resided in Edinburg, IN for 33 years. She was employed as accounts payable clerk and later as a purchasing agent/buyer for United Technologies for 27 years before retiring in April of 1996. She was a resident of Willow Springs from 1944 through 1959, and then moved back in 1999. She was a lifetime member of the American Legion Auxiliary and was active wherever she lived. Pat had many interests in life. She especially loved to knit and crochet and she was also an avid reader. She loved God, her church, and Bible study. She was an active and faithful member of the Presbyterian Church where she served as an Elder. However, the most important aspect of her life was her family, whom she adored. She will be greatly missed by her family, friends, and all who knew her.
She is preceded in death by her husband, her parents, a son, Rick Holland; two brothers, William G and Otis Petrus, and a sister, Betty Maude Petrus Newman.
She is survived by her grand-daughter, Nichole Holland Bardwell and her husband, David of Columbus, IN; her daughter-in-law, Karen Asher Holland, also of Columbus, IN; two brothers, Willard R. Petrus of West Plains, MO; Edward H. Petrus and his wife, Jeanie also of West Plains and sister-in-law, Sharon Petrus of Willow Springs. Further survivors include numerous nieces and nephews.
Memorial donations may be made in Pat"s memory to the American Cancer Society, and may be left at the funeral home.
A memorial service will be held at the Presbyterian Church in Willow Springs Thursday, March 8, 2018 at 11:00 AM with Rev. Diane Cooke officiating. Inurnment will follow the reception at the Willow Springs City Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Willow Funeral Home.
