STEELE, Mo.-Thomas W. Whitfield, 53, died last Thursday of a heart attack while visiting his daughter near Camden, Tenn., death coming about an hour after the first attack. When he left to visit his daughter he was not feeling well but his condition was not considered serious and his death was a shock to the members of his family and the large circle of friends here.
Mr. Whitfield was a native of Tennessee but had lived near Steele for a number of years where he had extensive farming interests. He was a member of the Church of Christ and for years had been secretary of the Modern Woodmen of America Lodge at Steele. He had also served as an assistant at the German Undertaking Co. He had always taken an active interest in the affairs of his community, the church and the schools.
Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon from the Church of Christ, where a large crowd gathered for the final rites. Burial was in the Mt. Zion cemetery.
