Friday, August 29, 1969:
Funeral services were held Friday, August 15, 1969 for Denorce (Sonny) Branscum, who died August 12 in Memphis.
Mr. Branscum was born January 10, 1937, in Blytheville. He had been in Memphis for about seven years and was an automobile salesman.
He was the son of Dewey and Mary Hipp Branscum.
Service was at the Chapel of German Funeral Home in Steele and burial was at Mt. Zion Cemetery. Rev. Bill Cardwell of No. 9 Baptist church officiated.
Pallbearers were Joe Fisher, Buck Benson, Buck Laster, Fred Burns, Derwood McFarland, and Harvey Kelly.
He leaves his wife, Mrs. Faye Brasher Branscum; three daughters, Denise, Dianne, and Donna. He also leaves his mother, Mrs. Mary Branscum of Blytheville; four sisters: Mrs. Geneva Dykes of Syracuse, N.Y., Mrs. Mattie Hundhausen of Tyler; Mrs. Jeanette Hamlett of Braggadocio; and Mrs. Peggy Lucas of Cooter; and a brother, Jerry Branscum of Memphis.
Mr. Branscum reportedly died of gunshot wounds. An auto salesman was questioned by Memphis police in connection with the death.
