Barbara was born in Hurley and grew up in this community. She attended Hurley schools. On October 8, 1949, she and Charles James Plowman were married. They were parents of two daughters, Pamela Ann and Sandra Jean. Barbara and Jim and their family lived in the Hurley and Crane communities. Later in life Barbara completed nursing training in Springfield and became a Licensed Practical Nurse. She moved to Ponca City, Oklahoma, to be near her daughter Pam. While living there she worked as an LPN in a nursing home. This was her calling. She loved taking care of the geriatric patients; she treated them kindly and respectfully and gave them a lot of attention. Her favorite pets were her cats and her Pomeranians -- she had four of them. She loved all of her family and was especially proud of her daughters, her grandsons, and her great-grandchildren. She will be greatly missed.
