Linda Bowman, 71, died October 14, 1997 at the Pemiscot Memorial Health Systems. Born April 2, 1926, she was the daughter of the late James Walter Shuburte and Zubia Ward Shuburte.
She attended school in Tennessee.
On December 29, 1948 in Blytheville, Arkansas she was united in marriage to Clyde Murrell Bowman. He preceded her in death on March 5, 1975.
She was a homemaker and a member of the Jesus Name Tabernacle.
She enjoyed playing Bingo.
She was preceded in death by two sisters, Lizzie Young and Rosetta Vie and by two brothers, Charles Shuburte and James Harley Shuburte.
Survivors include: six daughters, Barbara Cooper, Mary Goff, Jenny Henson, Debbie Barnett, Alice Hagan all of Caruthersville, Mo. and Patty McLemore of Pascola, Mo.; three sons, Donnie, Larry and Paul Bowman all of Caruthersville, Mo.; four sisters, Delphie Barnett, Zubia Lou Goss, Alice Merline Sprouts and Bessie Shulle; one brother, James Desmond Raymond Shuburte; twenty grandchildren and six great grandchildren; four sons-in-law, one daughter-in-law and a host of other relatives and friends.
Services were held on October 16, 1997 at 1 p.m. at the Jesus Name Tabernacle with Rev. John Stepp officiating. Burial in the Mt. Zion Cemetery.
Pallbearers were: Michael Henson, Shawn Hagan, Marvin Barnett Jr., Clint Walker, Marvin Barnett, Donnie Bowman.
The H. S. Smith Funeral Home was in charge of services.
