Ralph Springer was the oldest child of Allen and Lillian Springer. He was born and raised in the vicinity of Hurley, Missouri. He married Opal Wright October 18, 1924, in Stone County. They lived in the state of Washington for a few years in the late 1920's - early 1930's and then returned to Stone County where they lived on a farm east of Hurley. He also worked as a miller in the Spring Creek Mill in Hurley for a number of years. After retirement, he moved to Aurora, Missouri, where he was living when he died. Ralph and Opal were parents to four sons.

Opal (Wright) Springer was the daughter of James Pleasant "Ples" Wright and Sarah Elizabeth Flood. She grew up in the Oto Community of Stone County. On October 18, 1924, she and Ralph Springer were married by M. M. Cobb, JP in Stone County. For a brief time in the late 1920's - early 1930's they lived in the state of Washington. During her lifetime, Opal worked as a cook in the Hurley schools and also in the egg processing factory in Marionville. She was the mother of four sons. After retirement, she and Ralph moved to Aurora, Missouri, where she was living when she died.
