April 18, 1912, Cassville Republican, Barry Co., MO - Died After a Short Illness: A. M. Farwell, a well known citizen of Roaring River township, died at his home near Eagle Rock, Saturday afternoon, April 13, of gall stones and stomach trouble. On Monday before he had attended the Republican county convention at Cassville as a delegate and appeared to be in his usual health and continued so until Tuesday night when he was suddenly taken seriously ill. He suffered intensely for more than three days, during which time nothing but momentary relief could be secured. He had been bothered with the trouble to which he finally succumbed for several years and often was seriously ill. Mr. Farwell was well known over the county and was a successful farmer. For many years he has been a prominent citizen of Roaring River township. He was born in Illinois in 1852. The family moved to this county in 1857. He has been twice married and leaves a widow and three children from the first marriage and seven from the last marriage. He was a brother of Wilder Farwell near Cassville and of Otis Farewell of the Roach district. He was a man of strong convictions and never hesitated to express his views upon any question which came up. He was always a man of his word, of unquestioned integrity and stability of character. He always took an active and leading part in every movement for the progress of this county and community. His sudden death was a great shock to his large family and to his many friends all over the county. Funeral services were held Sunday and his body interred in the Farwell Cemetery on White River.
