Wheaton Journal, Feb. 27, 1947 - Samuel A. Keeling was born Feb. 10, 1869 in Wayne County, Tenn., moving to Barry County with his family when about six years old and residing here until his death, Friday, Feb. 14 1947. He and Angie Overton were united in marriage in June 1892 and were the parents of five children. His wife and two children, Robert and Emma, preceded him in death. Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Gladys Hall of Fresno, Calif., and Mrs. Imogene Buchanan of Tulsa; one son, Byron Keeling of Wheaton; one brother, Brown Keeling of Wheaton; seven grand children and numerous other relatives. He was converted at an early age and was a member of the Free Will Baptist Church. At the time of his death, he was making his home place near Wheaton. Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon at the Wheaton Methodist Church with Rev. Kenneth Turner of Monett officiating. Music was furnished by a quartet. Burial was in the Okla. Union Cemetery.

Wheaton Journal, June 8, 1939 - Angie (Overton) Keeling, daughter of R. C. and Amanda Overton, was born July 24, 1869 at the old Overton homestead near Wheaton, Mo., where she was residing at the time of her death. She departed this life May 31, 1939, at the age of 69 years, 10 months and 7 days. She was united in marriage to Samuel A. Keeling in June 1892. To this union was born five children. Two of them, Robert and Emmer, proceeded her in death. She leaves to mourn her passing her devoted husband, three children, Mrs. Gladys Tarvin and Byron Keeling of Shoal Creek Community and Mrs. Imogene Plaster of Tulsa, Okla.; eight grandchildren; three brothers, Dr. B. F. Overton of Mexia, Texas, R. C. Overton, Adair, Okla., Grover Overton, Muskogee, Okla.; two sisters Mrs. Lillie Hawks of Sacramento, Calif., and Mrs. Jessie Richardson of Wheaton, Mo., many other relatives and a host of friends. Eleven brothers and sister have preceded her in death. She was converted in early life and united with the Methodist Church but later was one of the charter members of the Free Will Baptist Church of Okla. Union of which she remained a faithful member until her death. Mrs. Keeling’s life was one of great influence for good. The spirit to do good and help her neighbors was always shown. Her death takes from this community one of the finest characters among us. We have felt her comforting spirit and enjoyed her loyal hospitality. From her heart, she radiated the influence of a vivid personality. Funeral services were conducted Friday afternoon, June 2, at the Okla. Union Church by Elder Kenneth Turner and Elder T. Farmer of Granby, Mo., and the remains were laid to rest in the family cemetery, under the direction of the Koon funeral service. - Harriet A. Overton, age 22, married Samuel A. Keeling, age 20, on June 16, 1892 in Barry Co., MO.
