Son of Joshua Ragsdale and Sarah "Sally" Turner
Husband of Nancy Elizabeth Buckner

B. F. Ragsdale, a prominent citizen and old settler of Washington Township died at his home on Friday last, and was interred at the family cemetery on the following day after services conducted by Rev. French.

Benjamin Franklin Ragsdale was born at the Ragsdale homestead, 1 1/2 miles southwest of South Greenfield on October 17th, 1840. He was the son of Joshua Ragsdale. On April 7, 1867, he was married to Nancy E. Buckner. They settled on a farm 2 1/2 miles west of South Greenfield and resided there continuously except for a short stay in California. There were born 14 children, 11 of whom are living. Howard is married and resides at Everton, Lulu is also married and lives in San Antonio, Texas. The remaining 9 live at home.

Mr. Ragsdale was one of the old pioneers of Dade county, having been born and lived for almost 60 years within its bounds. His life was marked by years of unremitting toil for those he loved, and his aim to leave his family in comfortable circumstances was fulfilled. He professed religion in boyhood at the old Methodist camp ground at South Greenfield and although he never united with any church, he lived a deep religious life as all can testify who knew him. He leaves one brother, Alex Ragsdale, and one sister, Mrs. Sarah McLemore, both of whom lived as neighbors. He had been in poor health and his death was expected for months, although his last sickness was of short duration.
