Obit:
My Brethren: Died, July 1, Martin Ennes, of Kidney and bladder trouble. He was the son of Elisha and Matilda Ennes, a native of Arkansas, just a young man when the war began. He enlisted to the Sixteenth Missouri Cavalry where he served till honorably discharged returning to his father's in Greene Co., Mo. Soon after going to Washington Co., Arkansas, where he become acquainted with Miss Mary S. Jennings, they were united in the bonds of holy matrimony. To them were given nine children, two of whom passed on before them. Our father also is dead. Mother, six brothers and two sisters are sill living. He was a Republican in politics, and a Methodist in religion. He was buried in the family burying ground after prayer by L. H. Taylor. To us he cannot return. He was just gone on before but not lost. We will meet again in that land of joy and song. J. W. Ennes.
