James Lee Sparks, age 72, of Cassville, Missouri, passed away Saturday, June 16, 2007, in St. John's Regional Medical Center in Joplin, Missouri following a long illness.
He was born December 26, 1934, in Cassville, the son of Charlie and Bernice (Hilburn) Sparks. On March 10, 1960, in Cassville, he was united in marriage to Sharon Grimes, who survives. He is also survived by two sons, Doyle Sparks and his wife, Madonna and Jimmy Sparks all of Cassville, Missouri; one daughter, Teresa Boxley and her husband, Karroll of Cassville, Missouri; one brother, Allen Sparks of Cassville, Missouri; nine grandchildren and one great granddaughter.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one grandson.

James received his education at Cassville High School. He worked as a police officer and a milk man in the 1960's. For twenty-two years he was employed as a driver, mechanic and a dispatcher for Barry County Ready Mix.

From April 10, 1957 until April 9, 1963, James served in the United States Army.

He was a member of Grace Southern Baptist Church, the Lions Club and the Rifleman's Association.

James was an avid hunter and fisherman and loved camping and traveling. His favorite past time was spending time with his grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, June 20, 2007, in Fohn Funeral Home, Cassville. Reverend Charles Chrisman will conduct the services. Burial with military honors will be in Russell Cemetery, Butterfield.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 P.M. Tuesday in Fohn Funeral Home, Cassville.
