Raymond Phariss
Raymond Byron Phariss, 103, of Monett, died May 17 at his home.

Mr. Phariss was born August 19, 1904, in Verona, the son of Charles Ether and Nora Estella Jones Phariss. He was a farmer. He was a member of the First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in Monett, and was road commissioner of Kings Prairie Road District in Barry County for 40 years. He was on the board of directors for MFA Farmers Exchange in Monett , and MFA Milling Company in Springfield. He was on the REA board for 25 years. He was also in the Barry County Welfare Advisory Board, the FHA board in Cassville, and was involved with the University of Missouri Experiment Station. He received the W. G. Skelly Award for progressive farmer in 1950, and received recognition from the REA at Kings Prairie substation in 2005 and the Monett Chamber of Commerce in 2004 for agricultural contribution to the community.

He married Lois Lucille Buehler in 1932 in Exeter, and she survives.

Additional survivors include two daughters, Noralee Faulkner and her husband, Charles, of Shell Knob, and Noveta Richardson and her husband, Clovis, of Little Rock, Arkansas; six grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by two brothers and three sisters.

Services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday, May 21, at Buchanan Chapel in Monett with Rev. Hubert Lines officiating. Burial will be in Spring River Cemetery, Verona, under the direction of Buchanan Funeral Home of Monett .

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. tomorrow, May 20, at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to the church or Kings Prairie Community Association.

Lois Lucille Buehler Phariss, 105, died July 18, 2019 at The Neighborhoods at Quail Creek in Springfield, MO.

Lois was born on July 8, 1914 in the Zion Community of Lawrence County, MO, To Samuel R. and Blanche Gertrude McCormack Buehler. Lois attended grade school at the Zion School, before attending high school at Verona, MO and completing requirements for a teaching certificate at the high school in Aurora, MO. She was married to Raymond Byron Phariss on June 12, 1932 in Barry County, MO.

Lois and Raymond were business partners in the operation of their family farm on Kings Prairie, Barry County, southeast of Monett, MO. In 1950, they received the National W.G. Skelly Award for their Outstanding Agriculture and Community Work.

Lois lived in the Kings Prairie Community for over 50 years, where she was active in community affairs, serving in organizations that were seeking to improve their school and church. She worked several years as Ward Clerk at the Aurora Community Hospital. Lois was a member of the First Christian Church in Monett, MO for over 70 years. She was a member of the Monett Garden Club, the Christian Women’s Fellowship, and the Alexander McNair Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution. Lois was a fifth generation Lawrence Countian, tracing her ancestry to Lee’s, McCormack’s and Evans.

Lois was an avid gardener and a professional seamstress. She set high standards for herself and was always giving to other people, including her family. She won awards for her quilt making and gardening.

Lois was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond; her sister, Sammy Dee Evans; her son-in-law, Charles Brixey Faulkner and her grandson-in-law, Dr. Robert W. Allen. She is survived by her daughters, Noralee Faulkner of Shell Knob, MO and Noveta Richardson and husband Clovis Richardson of Little Rock, AR; as well as six grandchildren, Barbi Lynn and husband Dr. Kurt Vinsant, Dr. Charlisa Faulkner Allen, Andrea Lea and husband Dr. John Mertz, Dr. Charles Byron Faulkner and wife Mary, Sheila Marie and husband David Stone and Alicia Anne and husband David Hart. Lois also has 13 great-grandchildren and 10 great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, July 22, 2019 at the Buchanan Funeral Home, Monett. Reverend Steve Clark will be officiating. Visitation will be from 10 – 11:00 a.m. Monday at the funeral home. Interment will be in the Spring River Cemetery at Verona, MO. Memorial contributions made be to First Christian Church of Monett, MO or charity of choice in her honor. Arrangements have been entrusted to Buchanan Funeral Home, 301 Euclid Ave, Monett, MO.
