Ruth Dimmitt's Obit:

Funeral services for Ruth Dimmitt, 85, of 319 W. Mill, will be held in the Johnson Funeral Chapel Saturday afternoon (Feb. 25, 1978) at 1 o'clock. The Rev. Glenn Campbell, pastor of the Free-Will Baptist Church, will conduct the services. Burial will be in Ringo Point cemetery in western Adair county.

Mrs. Dimmitt died Wednesday morning (Feb. 22, 1978) at 8:20 in Kirksville Manor Care Center, where she had been a patient since Jan. 21. She had been in failing health three months.

The daughter of John M. and Sarah Wynn Songer, she was born March 23, 1892 in Knox County. On Oct. 8, 1911 she was married to Joseph L. Dimmitt who preceded her in death on Feb. 16, 1966. Also preceding her in death were three sons, Max H. Dimmitt in October 1973, Melvin Dimmitt in June 1973 and Clifford Keith Dimmitt in infancy, two sisters, Mrs. Ellsworth (Dean) Brooks in 1959 and Mary Irene Songer, and one brother Raymond F. Songer.

Surviving are one sister, Meryl Greer of 505 W. George; four grandchildren, Mrs. Keith (Anita) Story, Richard Dimmitt, Robert Dimmitt and Barry Dimmitt and five great-grandchildren.

At the age of two, Mrs. Dimmitt moved with her parents from Knox county to the Pure Air community.

After their marriage, Mr. and Mrs. Dimmitt moved to a farm north of Pure Air where they resided until Mr. Dimmitt's death, at that time, Mrs. Dimmitt moved to the present address in Kirksville.

She attended the Free-Will Baptist Church.

The body will be at the funeral home after two o'clock Friday afternoon.

Bearers will be: Lanny Coy, Carl Ziegler, Lyle Shahan, Orlan Dimmitt, Randy Shahan and Gordon Coy.
