The following biography was take from the 1888 History of Adair, Sullivan, Putnam and Schuyler Counties, Missouri. Volume 1, page 941.
---Lewis C. Beach, farmer and stock raiser, was born in Ohio, November 20, 1853, the son of Dr. Joshua and Hattie (Lynch) Beach, natives of the same State. The father was a leading physician in his native country for about thirty-five years. He moved to Missouri, and located in Kirksville in 1887. He is now retired from practice at the age of sixty-seven years. Our subject grew to manhood in his native county, only two and a half miles from his wife's birthplace. September 3, 1873, he married Carrie, a daughter of John Lowe. He then moved to Kirksville, and farmed his father's land near there for three years. Since January, 1876, he has been on his present estate. It is a well-improved farm of 160 acres. Our subject is a member of the I. O. O. F. fraternity, and his wife holds the faith of the Presbyterian Church. His only son is Guy B.

SAD ACCIDENT.
L.C. Beach Accidentally Killed While Hunting.
---Mr. L.C. Beach, a well known citizen of this county, who lives near Millard, met with a fatal accident on Friday last, March 18. The facts appear to be as follows: Mr. Beach, while out hunting on that day, while climbing a wire fence, accidentally discharged his gun, the contents entering his head, killing him, it is supposed instantly.
---The facts as developed by the coroner's inquest, show that he had torn his pants in climbing the fence and scratched the gun. It is supposed that he fell, and that the hammer caught on the wire thus discharging the gun. Mr. Beach was a man of good standing and was highly respected. He was about 43 years of age and was a member of Adair lodge No. 96, I.O.O.F. His funeral was a large and impressive one. He leaves a widow and a son, nearly grown, to mourn his untimely end.
