SAMUEL EDMOND POWER DIES AT HOME IN GIBBS
Was 83 years old, in failing health for several years.
Brashear Mo. May 22, Samuel Edmond Power, 83, died at the family home in Gibbs Saturday afternoon at 2:10. Mr. Power suffered a stroke in September 1940, and had been in failing health since that time. Funeral arrangements are incomplete pending word from relatives and will be announced later. The son of Thomas and Catherine (Clemison) Power, he was born in Hurdland April 18th, 1866. On Aug 19th 1895 he was married to Ms Melinda Belle Vansickle. To this marriage eight children were born. After marriage Mr. Power lived in Elmer Missouri, for seven years then purchased a farm near Old Wilsontown where he lived for forty years. Six years ago he sold his farm and moved to Gibbs where he had since lived. Mr. Power was an active member of the primitive Baptist Church at Mt. Tabor. He is survived by his wife; eight children, Thomas of Ft Madison Iowa, Benjamin Franklin, Mrs. Howard (May) Taylor, August of St Louis, Orpha of the home, Mrs. Merle (Sarah) Conklin of Farmington Ill., Mrs. Murrel (Hettie) Deacon of Atlanta Mo. John of Greensboro N.C., 21 grand children and 23 great grand children and one sister Mrs. Hettie Law of Springfield Mo. The late Mrs. Ella Power-Longwith was also a sister.

MALINDA BELLE POWER DIES AT LA PLATA
Was 92 years old, Funeral Friday at Wilsontown
Malinda Belle Power, 92 of La Plata died at 8:45 this morning at the home of her daughter, Hettie Deacon of La Plata. She had been in failing health for some time. Born Feb. 14th, 1872 in Knox County in Hurdland, she was the daughter of John R. an Abbigale (Pinkston) Vansickle. She was married Feb, 14th, 1872 to Samuel Edmond Power in Knox county. They spent most of their lives in Adair county near Wilsontwon. Surviving are four sons and three daughters, Thomas of Ft Madison Iowa, Frank and August of St Louis Mo., John of Greensboro N.C., Mrs. Merle (Sarah) Conklin of Farmington Ill., Hettie deacon of La Plata and May Taylor of St Louis. Also surviving are 2 brothers and 1 sister, Levi and Bernard Vansickle and Elsie McGlothlin all of Hurdland; 21 grandchildren and 73 great grandchildren and 8 great, great grandchildren. Preceding her in death was her husband in 1949, one daughter, five brothers and two sisters. Mrs. Power was a member of the Mt. Tabor Primitive Baptist church near Hurdland which she joined in 1891.
