Margaret MCCAUSLAND TOMPKINS

Wilsontown (Wilson Township) Cemetery
Adair County,
Missouri

13 Mar 1837 Ontario County, Canada
25 Jan 1907 Wilson, Adair County, Missouri
Married James N Tompkins in 1859

Mrs. Margaret (McCausland) Tompkins went from the home circle of her loved ones here to "the home over there" at 9 p.m. Jan. 25. 1907, after an illness of only two weeks.
The deceased was born in Ontario County, Canada, March 13, 1837. Feb. 22. 1859 she gave her hand in marriage to Jas. Tompkins, who took his bride to Victoria County, Canada, where they lived until they came to Missouri in 1869, location on a farm near Wilson. To this union were born nine children, two dying in early childhood, and on March 28, 1893, she was called to mourn the death of the loved husband and father. Soon after this she removed to Kirksville, location near her daughters, Mrs. James Sangster on East Pierce Street. In the simple home of her Quaker father the child had been taught the value of life and when the father died the staunch Presbyterian mother taught her the realities of time and eternity, according to the creed of her chosen church. After a brief an appropriate service at the home, conducted by the Rev. W.C. Templeton, the remains were taken to the Wilson cemetery and laid beside those of her husband, there to rest "until the day breaks," where "Glory, glory dwelled in Immanuel's land."
