Ava Corrine Miller died Wednesday (Feb. 25, 2009) at the age of 97 in Kansas City Missouri. Ava was the second oldest child of James Edwin Palmer and Eva Florence Ditmars of Greentop, Missouri. Ava was born in Greentop, Missouri on May 2, 1911 and later lived in Moulton Iowa, Lorana Texas, and Kirksville prior to settling down in Kansas City, Missouri.

Ava married Lee Floyd in Kirksville in 1929. Ava and Lee had one daughter Mary Louis Floyd. Ava was survived by one sister, Lou Ella Hoffman of Harlingen TX, one grandson, Brett Gray of Overland Park, KS, and one granddaughter, Susan Meyer of Overland Park, KS.

Preceding Ava in death were her husband, Lee Floyd, daughter, Mary Louis Gray and her brothers and sisters, Gladys Prince, Diana May Haddock, Velma Thompson, William "Buster" Palmer, Isabel Jones, James "Dale" Palmer, Eva "Bernice" Gill, Betty Mae Slayton, Georgia Durham, and Billy Jo Palmer.

Ava resided on the Country Club Plaza in Kansas City for 59 Years and was a "Fitter In Fashions" at Wolf Brothers Clothiers in Downtown Kansas City Missouri for 38 years. Ava's favorite hobbies included sewing, dancing and spending time with her family and friends. Ava was a very proud and independent woman who provided a very high level of love and support to her family and friends. She will be dearly missed by all.

Graveside service and interment will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday (Feb. 28, 2009) at the Greentop Cemetery in Greentop, MO. Arrangements by Davis-Playle-Hudson-Rimer Funeral Home 2100 E. Shepherd Ave. Kirksville, MO 63501 660-665-2233
