W.L.YOUNG, organizer and cashier of the Farmer's State Bank of Greentop, is a native of Schuyler county. He was born two and a half miles west of Queen City, June 25, 1867. His parents were Wm. and Louise W. Young, both now deceased. Mr. Young lived on a farm with his parents in Adair county until his sixteenth year, when he went to Iowa where he worked as a hired hand on a farm during the summer and attended school in the winter doing chores for board for three years. He then returned to Schuyler and worked on the farm until in his 24th year. At this time he entered the Normal at Kirksville, after which he taught one term of school. In 1893 he engaged in the drug business in Greentop, and continued in this until 1903. On November 25 of that year, he with others, established the Farmer's State Bank, he being its first cashier. This position Mr. Young still holds, and is a splendid man. Later he with B. L. Eastir established the Greentop Lumber Co.

Mr. Young was married November 19, 1895 to Miss Lucy A. Tice of Greentop. To this union was born six children, namely: James F., born July 27, 1897; George L., June 7, 1899; John E., August 10, 1902; Fred Tice, November 27, 1904; Charles W., July 17, 1906; and Lucy L., July 11, 1908.

Politically Mr. Young is a Democrat, and for twelve years has been a member of the Democratic Central Committee from Salt River township and is at present the Secretary of the Democratic Central Committee of Schuyler County. While Mr. Young is actively interested in politics, he has never aspired to office. He is a valuable member of the I.O.O.F lodge of Greentop, and of the A.F. & A.M of Queen City. He is widely acquainted.

W. LEE YOUNG, RESIDENT OF GREENTOP DIES

Was Organizer of a Private Bank and Lumber Company

W. Lee Young, 89, died at his home in Greentop Wednesday evening.

Mr. Young was the son of William and Louisa Hodges Young and was born in Schuyler county on June 25, 1867. He was married to Lucy A. Tice, at Greentop on Nov. 10, 1895, and to this marriage six children were born.

He is survived by a daughter Lucy Louisa Young, Greentop, three sons, James F. Young, Greentop, Charles W. Young, Wichita, Kan., and John E. Young, Cedar Rapids, Ia; six grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and eleven great-great-grandchildren.

Mr. Young was preceded in death by two sons and was the last member of a family of 26 children.

Mr. Young lived on a farm with his parents in Adair county until he was 16 years of age, then went to Iowa where he farmed for three years, returning to a farm in Schuyler county. Later he entered the Normal School at Kirksville, and taught school for one year. In 1893 he engaged in the drug business in Greentop until 1903, when he organized a private bank, and later it became the Farmer's State Bank, he being the first cashier. Also he was the organizer of the Greentop Lumber Company. During the later years of his life, he operated a Credit Union in Greentop, until his health failed about seven years ago. For several years he was a director of the Bank of Kirksville.

He was a member of the Methodist church at Greentop, Greentop Lodge No. 635 AF&AM, The Chapter, Commandery, and a member of the Mystic Shrine at Moila Temple. A few years ago he was presented with the 50-year pin of the Masonic Lodge and the Eastern Star chapter at Greentop.

The body was taken to the Dee Riley Funeral Home. Funeral arrangements will be announced later.

Wiley Lee Young Services Tuesday

Funeral services for Wiley Lee Young, of Greentop, Missouri, will be held at the Methodist church in Greentop on Saturday afternoon at 3:00 p.m., conducted by Rev. Cal Hennings, pastor of the church. Interment will be in the Greentop cemetery.

The body will lie in state at the Dee Riley Funeral Home, until 11:00 a.m., Saturday morning, at which time it will be taken to the church to lie in state until the funeral hour. Bearers will be Clifford Senneff, James Welch, Frank Young, Laurence Goodwin, Fred Lay and Harry Young.

MRS. YOUNG OF GREENTOP DIES TODAY

Wife of W.L. Young To Be Buried Sunday; Once Lived Here

Mrs. Lucy Ann Young, 56, wife of W.L. Young, of Greentop, died in a hospital here this morning at 4 o'clock, following an illness with cancer.

Funeral services are to be held Sunday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the Greentop M.E. Church, conducted by Rev. S.A. Rear, of Kirksville, assisted by the Rev. Mr. Wald, of Princeton, Mo. The body is at the Dee Riley Funeral Home here, where it will remain until Saturday or Sunday. It will lie in state for an hour prior to the funeral in the church at Greentop. Burial will be made in the Greentop cemetery.

Mrs. Young, who had lived at Greentop practically her entire life, was born there Oct. 22, 1877, a daughter of Fred J. and Sue L. Tice. She was married 38 years ago to Mr. Young and six children were born.

Surviving are her husband, five sons, James F., Kirksville; George L., Reading, Pa.; John E., Waterloo, Ia.; Tice F., Kirksville, and Charles W. Wichita, Kans.; one daughter, Miss Lucy, Greentop; three brothers, Charles A. and Lester O. Tice, Chicago, and W. E. Tice, Buena Park, Calif.; three sisters, Mrs. Mollie Evans, Greentop; Mrs. Dora G. Griffin, Walkertown, Ind., and Mrs. Lillie VanNattan, Colorado Springs. Mrs. Young's parents, a brother, Fred, and a sister preceded her in death.

Mrs. Young was an active member of the Greentop M.E. Church. She lived at 208 East Washington Street, Kirksville, for a year about three years ago.
