Services were held July 5, 1971 at Cooter United Methodist Church for Jessie V. "Dick" Ausburn, who died July 3 at his home in Cooter. A retired carpenter, Mr. Ausburn was born March 7, 1903, the son of Mr. and Mrs. T.H. Ausburn.
The Rev. Robert Haden conducted the service at 2:00 p.m. with burial in Number 8 Cemetery, German Funeral Home of Steele was in charge of arrangements.
An active member of his church, Mr. Ausburn had recently been elected president of the Methodist Men's organization for Cooter-Oak Ridge, a position he had held only one month before his death. Mr. Ausburn was also interested in gospel singing and had served as secretary-treasurer of the Pemiscot County Singing Convention.
Mr. Ausburn leaves his wife, Mrs. Allie Browning Ausburn of the home; two daughters, Mrs. Wayne Cooper of Cooter and Mrs. Kathleen Ward of Pacific, Mo.; four sons: Vernon Ausburn of Mesquite, Texas, James Ausburn of St. Louis, Lawrence Ausburn of Honey Grove, Texas and Jerry Ausburn of Cooter.
He also leaves eight sisters, a brother, 15 grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Hal Rhea, Robert Hodge, Fred Cook, Dalms Reid, Doc Barger, and Alvin Hawkins.

Allie Browning Ausburn, 81, daughter of the late Ulysses S. Grant and Sarah Jane Francis Speights Browning, was born March 8, 1907 at Rose Bud, Ark. and died November 7, 1988 at Hayti, Mo.
On June 14, 1924 he was married to J.V. "Dick" Ausburn at Rose Bud. He preceded her in death July 3, 1971. She also was preceded in death by one daughter, Estelle, three brothers and one sister.
She was a homemaker and was a member of the Cooter United Methodist Church for 21 years.
Rev. Ken Attix officiated at funeral services Thursday, November 10, 1888 at 2:00 p.m. from the Cooter United Methodist Church. Burial was at Number Eight Cemetery at Cooter, Mo., with arrangements by German-Aumon Funeral Home of Steele, Mo.
She leaves four sons: Vernon Junior Ausburn of Rockwall, Texas, James Virgil Ausburn of St. Charles, Mo., Lawrence Wayne Ausburn of Paris, Texas and Jerry Randall Ausburn of Cooter; two daughters: Ellen Cooper of Steele and Kathleen Ward of Gosnell, Ark.; 15 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Joe McCollum, Pauline Alexander, Ray Nichols, Tommy Campbell, Bill Lynn, and Richard Weber.
Honorary pallbearers were Wayne Alexander, Wayne Cooper, Thomas Young and Jerry Dale Brown.
