James Haskel Norrid, 69, of Holly Bluff, Miss., formerly of Cooter, died Saturday at Yazoo City, Miss. Born July 19, 1916 in Holland, he was the son of James Preston and Inos Hicks Norrid. He was a retired gin manager and a member of Steele Oddfellows Lodge. He was a Baptist.
He is survived by hs wife, Mrs. Lazella O'Kane Norrid of Holly Bluff; One son, James R. Norrid of Jackson, Miss.; Two daughters, Mrs. Clara Imogene McMahan of San Antonio and Mrs. Helen Henderson of Statesville, N.C.; Three sisters, Mrs. Carrine Grissom and Mrs. Irma Bradden, both of Kennett, and Mrs. Georgia Maddox of Houston; Eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Graveside services were Tuesday at 1 p.m. at Number Eight Cemetery at Cooter, the Rev. Tim Abernathy officiating. Oddfellows held a special service at the gravesite. German-Aumon Funeral Home of Steele was in charge.
Pallbearers were members of the Oddfellows Lodge.

Lavella "Belle" O'Kane Norrid, 82, of Statesville, N.C., died Tuesday, March 5, 2002, at the Iredell Memorial Hospital in Statesville.
Born Wednesday, June 4, 1919 in Cooter, Mo., she was the daughter of the late Claude O'Kane and Clara Fuller O'Kane.
She was also preceded in death by one brother, Ted O'Kane; and two sisters: Claudyne Razer and Melba Copley.
Belle was united in marriage to J.H. "Haskell" Norrid on December 19, 1937 in Cooter. He preceded her in death.
She was a homemaker and a member of the Holly Grove Baptist Church in Cooter.
Mrs. Norrid leaves one son, James Richard Norrid, of Jackson, Miss.; Two daughters: Imogene Rodrigues of Cleveland, N.C., and Helen Henderson of Troutman, N.C.; Three brothers: Eric O'Kane of Uttica, Mich., Lowell O'Kane of Blytheville, Ark., and Larry O'Kane of Haines City, Fla.; Three sisters: Mary Caldwell, Charlotte O'Kane, and Glenda O'Kane of Cooter; Eight grandchildren; and Four great-grandchildren.
Funeral services for Mrs. Norrid were held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, March 8, 2002, at the Bradshaw-Powell Funeral Home in Steele, Mo., with Rev. David Lewelling officiating.
Burial was at the Number Eight Cemetery in Cooter with Bradshaw-Powell Funeral Home of Steele in charge.
Pallbearers were Casey Norrid, Joe Moody, Kevin Henderson, Chester Henderson, John McMahan, and Jimmy McClure.
