Ethel Bohon, daughter of J.D. and Louesa (Norton) Bondurant, was born June 7, 1890, in Downing, and died Friday, January 15, 1993, in a Kirksville, Mo., hospital at the age of 102 years.

She married Dr. Samuel B. Bohon, D.D.S., in June 1915, in Kirksville, Mo. He preceded her in death on January 13, 1974.

Also preceding her in death were her parents; seven brothers, Price Bondurant, James Bondurant Jr., William Bondurant, John Bondurant, Paul Bondurant, Earl Bondurant, and Lloyd Bondurant; two sisters, Edith Porter and Lois DeVinny; her step-mother, Rose Bondurant; and one step-brother, Etzel Combs.

Surviving are three sons, Russell Bohon, Kirksville, Mo., Dr. Norton Bohon and wife Mildred, Kirksville, Mo., and Dr. Stanley Bohon and wife Doris, Kirksville, Mo.; seven grandchildren, Norton Bohon II, Morago, Calif., Debbie Kelley, Fairfax, Va., Susie Bohon, Houston, Tex., Chris Bohon, Kirksville, Mo., Rick Bohon, Columbia, Mo., Connie Weaver, Washington, D.C., and Libby Riley, Kirksville, Mo.; and ten great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Bohon moved with her family to a farm east of Kirksville, Mo., in 1903, and in 1907 her father purchased a bakery and the family moved into town. From around 1910-1912, she and her brother owned and operated a variety store in Kirksville. She helped organize the first kindergarten school in Kirksville, as well as the first hot meal program at the junior high school. She served on several community improvement committees and was active in the PTA.

She was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, Daughters of the American Colonists, and French Huguenot Society of America.

Mrs. Bohon was the oldest member of First Presbyterian Church, Kirksville, Mo., and also had been a member for the longest time.

Services were held Monday, January 18, 1992 [sic], in First Presbyterian Church, Kirksville, Mo., with the Rev. Clifford Hayes officiating.

Bearers were Bill Bondurant, Joe Marino, Chris Bohon, Ryan Bohon, Rick Bohon and Don Riley.

Honorary bearers were Jerry Tucker, Ralph Sees, Frank Buckingham, Ralph Shain, F.M. "Bucky" Walter, Charles Truitt, Tom Tucker, Carl Link and Francis Link.

Burial was in Highland Park Cemetery, Kirksville, Mo., under the direction of Davis-Playle Funeral Home, Kirksville, Mo.
