Mrs. E.L. Epperson, 75, Dies of Burns
Mrs. E.L. Epperson, 75, of 710 W. Cottonwood, died in a Kirksville hospital about 9:19 p.m. Saturday as a result of burns received that morning.
According to reports Mrs. Epperson was singeing a chicken in her yard when the lighted paper she was using caught her clothing on fire. Her body was taken to the Funeral Home of Davis & Davis. Funeral arrangements are incomplete.

SERVICES FOR MRS. EPPERSON ON WEDNESDAY
Kirksville Woman, 74, Died Saturday Night of Burns
Funeral services will be held Wednesday afternoon for Mrs. Edward (David Ellen) Epperson, 74, of 710 W. Cottonwood, who died Saturday night at a Kirksville hospital of burns received earlier in the day.
Services will be at 2 p.m. in the funeral chapel of Davis & Davis with the Rev. Hobart Cooper of Kirksville officiating. Burial will be in Highland Park cemetery.
Mrs. Epperson suffered burns over 90 per cent of her body Saturday morning while she was singeing a chicken in the back yard of her home, when the lighted paper she was using caught her clothes on fire.
The woman's husband is reported to have gotten the burned woman into the house where he put water on the burns and then notified a niece, asking her to call a doctor.
The daughter of Auron [sic] and Ann Eliza (Stewart) Burgess, she was born in Adair county on Sept. 22, 1887. She was married March 8, 1903 in Kirksville to Edward Epperson and to this marriage six children were born.
Surviving are her husband; two sons, Robert Epperson of Sandy, Ore., and Edward Lee Epperson of Kirksville; two daughters, Mrs. Lewis (Rama Belle) Ogle of Kirksville and Lewise Grundmeyer of Denver, Colo.; one sister, Mrs. Clarence (Belle) Iaiser of Kirksville; seven grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, two sons, four brothers and three sisters.
Mrs. Epperson was employed in the laundry at the Kirksville Osteopathic Hospital for 17 years until 1945.
She was a member of the First Baptist church.
Bearers will be: Frank Lawson, Lee McKim, Ivan Rouse, Donald Cooper, Frankie Manning and Victor Sims.
