'TILL' MAJOR. 53 YEARS OLD, IS DEAD HERE

Hospitalized Three Days; Services Tomorrow

Tillman Major, 53, of 705 W. Elizabeth died Sunday afternoon at four o'clock in a Kirksville hospital where he had been a patient the past three days.

The son of David and Eliza (Wilson) Major, he was born in Monroe county, Ia., on March 12, 1909. He married Goldie Lockhart in Kirksville on Feb. 15, 1931 and to this marriage three children were born.

Surviving are wife, one son, Donald Major of St. Charles; three brothers, Ralph Major, Ora Major and Kenneth Major, all of Kirksville, and two sisters, Mima Adams of Kirksville and Gladys Cody of Brashear.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one son, one daughter and one sister.

Mr. Major was a member of the Free Will Baptist church and the Boilermakers Union of Kansas City.

He had been a resident of Kirksville since a small child and had been employed in construction work in this area.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday afternoon at two o'clock in the Funeral Chapel of Davis & Davis with the Rev. Lester Jones officiating. Burial will be in the Highland Park cemetery.

Beraers will be Russell Wellman, Lloyd Cory, Ernest Thomas, A.E. Dare, Harold Myers and Howard Filkins.

Goldie A. Phillips

Goldie Allene Phillips, 67. of 315 S. Elson died at 11:45 Tuesday night (Feb. 26, 1980) in a Kirksville hospital where she had been a patient only a short time.

Born Jan. 24, 1913 in Yarrow, she was the daughter of Archie and Leorie Crawford Lockhart. She was married to Tillman Majors who preceded her in death on Feb. 3, 1962. On March 26, 1967 she was married to Louis W. Phillips who survives. Also surviving are one son, Donald Majors of St. Charles; two granddaughters, Leslie Majors and Paula Majors; one sister, Evelyn Rash of Kirksville and two nieces, Mrs. Charles (Diana) Lewellen and Mrs. Kenneth (Linda) Baker.

She was preceded in death by one daughter, Betty McCartney; one son, Laverne Majors and one brother in infancy.

Mrs. Phillips was a life-long resident of the Kirksville area. Before her retirement in 1975 she had been employed for 25 years at Lambert Manufacturing Company.

She was a member of the Hamilton Street Baptist Church.

Funeral services will be held Thursday afternoon (Feb. 28, 1980) at 2:30 in the chapel of the Davis Funeral Home. The Rev. Ernest Deatrick of Williamstown will conduct the services. Burial will be in Highland Park cemetery.
